The DISS ECG solution is a
tested, integrated solution for ECG acquisition,
analysis and management. This
process ensures quality results from the point at which
the signal is digitized, through verification of the
quality of
the signals and measurements, finally ending with
post-processing for anomalies, quick human review and
reporting of results.
The DISS CA Recorder
4-part
Integrated
Process for Real-Time ECG Analysis and Reporting
is as follows: |
|
|
|
Part
1: Rejection of
Noisy Signals (SNA)
DISS uses a unique
and proprietary algorithm to detect and reject
noisy signals. Duration of Signals Not Analyzed (SNA)
can be logged in real-time and used to inform the
investigator that he has a problem with signal
quality. This information can also be used to keep
track of the quality of signal generation, implant
and setup.
Below is the CA Recorder suspending beat
detection.

Part
2: Rejection of Unmeasurable
Beats (BNA)
DISS takes the
discrimination of poor signal quality one step
farther, again using unique and proprietary
algorithms to determine Beats Not Analyzed (BNA).
Noisy beats or cycles (based on user definitions
of noise) are not measured. The number of invalid
beats is tracked in real-time to show signal
quality to the investigator before leaving the
lab.
Below is an example
of a competitor’s attempt to analyze a bad signal.

Next is the CA Recorder suspending analysis.

beats detected, but not measured by CA Recorder

Point
3: Measurements of Signal
Once the valid ECG signals and beats are
identified, they are measured for the common
conductance intervals and height measurements with
the PhEAT analysis module, (from Gateway
Applied Systems), for heart rates from 30 to 240 for
Lead II configuration. For Multi-leads with heart
rates from 30 to 500, the DISS ECG analysis
software is used.
|
|
Point
4: QT Limits
After beat-by-beat
measurements, DISS uses a limiter algorithm to
determine if the QT interval measurements are
within physiological limits based on the subject’s
previous beats. If they are not, the measurements
are rejected and therefore not included in the
analysis.

|
As a result
of the above 4-step integrated process, the
necessity to perform any hand
measurement or re-measurements has been eliminated
in many telemetry
and ECG laboratories.
|
|
Post-Processing
The DISS solution
also integrates post-processing of ECG signals
with
VR2,
our powerful data analysis and management
software. |
|
Data Quality
Module
DISS keeps,
tracks, and records the maximum, minimum,
standard deviation, signal not analyzed, beats
not analyzed, and heart rate variability for
all of the beat-to-beat measurements used for
the average of the logged results. Using the
preview and review features of
VR2,
the investigator can use these key parameters
to quickly detect anomalies such as potential
arrhythmia, incorrect triggering or filter
settings, poor signal quality, etc.

Pattern
Recognition Tools
The DISS VR2 Pattern Recognition algorithms allow
the investigator to quickly and reliably
identify anomalous cycles and patterns
throughout a study or experiment. The patterns
are self-defined (customized by the
investigator) or can come from a library
which DISS provides.

VR2
Electronic Calipers
To aid the
investigator in his validation process, DISS
provides the
VR2
Electronic Calipers and Validation Report
Module. These tools allow the investigator to
quickly hand measure a set of cycles and
compare them to the measurements made during
data acquisition.
VR2
takes the hand measurements, in combination
with the online results, and automatically
generates a printable report with signatures
and their differences as well as whether or
not they are within limits.
