What is ITS?

In 1995, three companies saw the pharmaceutical industry’s need for a high quality, accurate and reliable biotelemetry system for canines and non-human primates.

These three organizations combined their products and services to provide the life science research community with the high-end, state-of-the-art biotelemetry system called ITS. The synergy between the three companies provides a biotelemetry data acquisition system that is supported and serviced seamlessly from the transducer to the daily summary report.

Konigsberg provides the development and manufacturing of the telemetry hardware. RMISS provides consulting from surgery, installation, and validation support of the telemetry hardware. DISS provides development and support of the CA Recorder/VR2 data analysis, verification and report system, and handles sales for the ITS line.

What is CA Recorder?

CA Recorder is a data acquisition and analysis system designed and optimized for canine and primate pre-clinical telemetry studies in pharmacology, safety assessment, sleep studies and virological/bacterial therapeutics.

How will CA Recorder improve my Telemetry Studies?

Unlike other data acquisition systems, CA Recorder allows you to connect your system to your internal network without fear of preemption. This connection allows for real-time monitoring and control from a remote location, with instant backup and archiving of the data. Coupled with our unique Gemini hardware configuration, you receive synchronized redundancy that guards against data loss.

With telemetry studies, heart rate signals frequently change due to subject activity and/or morphology. Basic data acquisition systems cannot compensate for these variances, so they erroneously trigger or fail to pick up the PT wave. Because CA Recorder was developed specifically for telemetry labs, it is sensitive to the nuances of telemetric signal processing. CA Recorder automatically adjusts to accommodate these changes. Our service technicians are experienced and comfortable with biotelemetry systems, and they will quickly identify any problems and work with you to resolve issues efficiently and rapidly.

What is VR2?

VR2 is a data analysis and management system designed as a companion program for CA Recorder and optimized for canine and primate pre-clinical telemetry data.

VR2 contains pre-programmed algorithms and calculations used specifically by researchers (e.g., extracted data averaging, min/max functions). VR2 also allows you to preview, review, verify and report on the entire experiment, all within the rigors of a secure, Rule-11 environment. More importantly, you can see the raw data that gives rise to the results. To our knowledge, no comparable program exists that can perform these functions. Many researchers use a standard Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program to analyze their data, but Excel cannot display raw data, nor is it validated for research that must be GLP and Rule-11 compliant. It is also a cumbersome tool, since it was not designed for the specific requirements of life science research.

How will VR2 improve my Telemetry Studies?

There is no faster, more reliable, more secure way to manage your data results than with VR2. Whether you need to identify problem areas in your data results, or summarize results and create reports, VR2 does more than the average spreadsheet program. You will finish your job in less time than you thought possible and feel confident that you completed your project within an environment specifically designed to comply with the requirements of GLP and Rule-11 regulations.

Also, our Data Quality Module (DQM) allows you to quickly and accurately identify Beats Not Analyzed (BNA), Signal Not Analyzed (SNA) and Heart Rate Variability. Only with VR2 can you save time and have increased accuracy!

What do you mean when you say your system allows remote control?

The ITS system’s standard configuration not only allows a remote viewer to monitor raw data in real-time, it also allows control of the study. From a remote location, one can start/stop the experiment, insert tick marks, place event markers, change filters or adjust analysis variables to optimize triggering. This type of two-way communication in real-time not only provides the convenience of remote control, but is a critical feature when dealing with Biosafety level 4 environments where the safety of lab staff is a concern.

The ITS digital video system is also networked, allowing the user to remotely view the subjects 24 hours a day (nighttime infrared capability is included). This remote networking may be done either through LAN or via the Internet.

Do you stand by what you sell?

At DISS, our goal is to provide our customers with the best possible service and support. Our software and hardware are the means to provide you with this service.  Unlike other companies who are solely concerned with a high number of sales, DISS goes “the extra mile” in order to make sure you are receiving everything you need in order to be successful.

What are your qualifications?

Our company has been a mainstay of the research community for 14 years. Our software programmers are either Ph.D. or graduate level, with years of experience in the life sciences. Our testers and QA staff are from the pharmaceutical and biomedical engineering industries, all with degrees and high credentials. Our field representatives are experts and educated in life science and/or engineering.

Do you offer leasing options or have grant applications for qualifying organizations?

We are very willing to work with you on purchase and leasing options, as well as possible grant systems to those organizations that meet our qualifications. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your situation with you further. Please do not hesitate to contact us!
